William F. Jones and his wife Kitty Mason Jones in a photo taken during the 1890's. He was the son of Fenner Jones, a free "mulatto"who lived in Franklin County, North Carolina. Fenner married Marthanna Dunston in December of 1840 (as per marriage bond). In the 1850 census they appear along with four of their children. He is listed as a farmer with a property value of $300.
